These were the boots I wanted to take to Paris for the holidays, but could not find. Finally, after searching for at least a month for the perfect glossy black, or patent black, fashionable riding boot (even in Paris) boots with an almond toe, a little higher heel, but comfortable, and a little something to feminize an otherwise simple, but classic riding-boot look, I found these boots through Amazon. After trying Prada, Ralph Lauren, Anne Klien, Ecco, Versace, and even the comfort brands, such as Sofft, and Naturalizer, I almost gave up. The boots, from all of these collections, were missing one or another of the special details I was looking for, comfort, beauty, quality, and as with most riding boots, a feminine touch.
When I saw that these were "Jessica Simpson" which we can find in moderately scaled department stores, I presumed they were "cheaper" quality (possibly pleather, plastic, man-made upper, no arch support, no inner comfort lining).
I was wrong. These boots have all of the quality of the higher-end brands, and an even more beautiful look and comfortable feel.
First, these boots are classic, fashionable, and beautiful. If you are like me and do not "really" ride horses, or work in a barn, a "riding boot" or true field boot is not appropriate for the fashion-styled girl, who wants her boots to go with dresses or skirts worn during dinners out, evenings out, shopping, and even the office. The calf-shaped tapered fit, tall shaft, and black gloosy look is to satisfy a sense of fashion and achieve a sophisticated quasi-equestrian look. These boots are beautifully suited for this purpose. They are glossy, with an almond shaped toe, a bit of a higher heel, no colored or fabric zipper to contend with. The entire shaft is leather all around (a slide on). The shaft is calf shaped which is usually only found in a true field boot (a genuine riding boot); not even Ralph Lauren boots (not that I have seen) have the tapered calf-shaped shaft. The added touch to these boots is the lace up back, allowing for a little bow, and a dangling leather lace. This polishes these boots off to a perfect feminine touch -- impossible to find in most riding boots. which elect a buckle or a band (a harder detail).
Second, these boots are very comfortable. They are soft and cushioned on the inside, allow enough flex room for comfortable walking and movement, are true to size, and perfectly suited for a proportionate calf. I would not recommend these for larger calves. That said, I have an average calf, proportionate to my 5' 9' frame, and there is room for pant legs, and socks. The leather is glossy and strong, but not so tight that it will not break in comfortably after a few wearings. The heel is strong, and stacked, and supportive. You can wear these all day without pain.
Third, the price is great. You can pay less, but expect more. If you are looking for a beautiful, classic, black glossy, feminine, and affordable riding boot, try these. I am so happy I found them.
