++ Timex Men s T5H391 Ironman Sleek 50 Lap Resin Strap Watch

I'm a long-time Timex Ironman wearer - I've had a full-sized Flix on my wrist for the last decade or so. When the battery ran out on my last model, I thought I'd give the this specific Sleek model a shot.



I should have stayed with what works.



The good thing I can report is that - like all Ironman models - there's the comfort of similar functionality: no need to glance at a manual; the Sleek works like all other Ironman models.



My disappointments:



- The reflective surface turns the display unreadable at slight off-angles. The relatively flat display on my full-sized Flix was readable without me having to take a full turn of my wrist towards my eyes. I ran a race two weekends ago and what was a mildly annoying problem during casual wear become a showstopper. I was struck by just how much effort it took for me to get a time-reading.



- As noted by others, the Start/Split (i.e., 'lap') button is problematic - it doesn't reliably work. I've missed laps (sure I've depressed the button only to find out it didn't take) or accidentally double-pressed the button.



- No Flix capabilities (an invaluable feature for these short winter days - you don't realize how great this feature is until you don't have it).



- The position of the four surrounding buttons is odd and touchy. Whenever I hit the Indiglo button, I end up also pressing the 'mode' button accidentally to boot. In fact, the 'mode' button is something I end up hitting a couple of times a day during casual wear. I go to check the time and see I've somehow ended up on 'Chrono' or some other mode at some point in the day.



I'm going back to my full-sized Flix sometime today.
